School accounting

School accounting that answers the owner's questions

Profit, months of cash, break-even enrolment and who owes what, built from the fees, salaries and expenses your office already records. No vouchers, no second system, no month-end re-typing.

Edflo's Financial Reports, starting with the owner dashboard and unit economics: the numbers that say whether the school is working

Every school owner ends up asking the same questions. Is the school making money? How many months could we last if collections stopped? How many students do we need at these fees? What are all these concessions costing us? In most schools the answers arrive once a year, from the auditor. Edflo answers them from the records your office already keeps, because every fee, salary and expense posts to the books the moment it is recorded.

Where a school's money actually lives

A school's money lives in three places: the fee register, the salary sheet, and whatever the accountant keeps, updated from both at month end if at all. So the owner's questions get answered once a year, long after anything could be done about them.

  • ×A profit figure that is fees collected minus bills paid, which mixes cash with what is owed and is wrong in most months
  • ×Nobody can say how many months of cash the school has
  • ×Concessions granted every week with no idea what they cost over a year
  • ×The accountant re-typing the fee register into vouchers

How Edflo helps

01

The books keep themselves

Every challan, collection, salary and expense posts to a double-entry ledger as it happens. When a parent pays through 1BILL, the fee is marked paid against the student, the cash lands in the school's bank account in the books, and the profit and loss, cash flow and owner's dashboard have already moved. Nobody typed anything.

  • No vouchers to enter
  • Profit and loss on a cash or accrual basis
  • Your financial year, July to June by default
02

The numbers an owner actually asks for

Twelve numbers on one screen, each linking to the report behind it, with a warning when one crosses a line: collections falling behind, salaries taking too much of fee income, or cash running short.

  • Break-even enrolment: the students you need at today's fees and costs
  • Months of cash at your recent rate of spending
  • Revenue and cost per student
  • What concessions cost, as a share of list price
03

Statements your accountant can work from

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, changes in equity and a trial balance, current whenever you open them, with a journal behind every figure.

  • PDF on your letterhead, with prepared-by and approved-by lines
  • CSV that opens correctly in Excel
  • Opening balances from four figures, so you can start mid-year
04

Controls that match how schools work

Access follows the job. A finance manager can read every report without being able to restate one, a write-off needs a reason and the right permission, and a closed month stays closed.

  • Reading the books and changing them are separate permissions
  • Write-offs need a reason, and stop the reminders
  • Period close freezes a month you have reported

What the owner gets

One profit figure, on one basis
A break-even number before admission season, not after
The cost of concessions in rupees
Warning of a cash squeeze while there is still time to act
Board papers printed from the system, not rebuilt in Excel

Frequently asked questions

Does Edflo produce a balance sheet and profit and loss?

Yes, and a cash flow statement, changes in equity and a trial balance, as a PDF on your school's letterhead or as CSV. The profit and loss runs on a cash or accrual basis, and any line can be compared with the previous month, quarter or year.

Do we have to enter vouchers?

No. Fees, collections, salaries and expenses post to the books themselves, including fees parents pay through 1BILL. Manual journal entries are there for anything else, and will not save unless they balance.

Do we still need an accountant?

Most schools will, for tax and for signing off the accounts. What changes is where the accountant starts: from posted statements, instead of a fee register to re-type.

Does Edflo handle FBR or tax filing?

No. Edflo keeps the books, in PKR, and produces the statements. Tax filing stays with your accountant.

Can we see every branch's accounts together?

No. Each campus keeps its own books in Edflo, and the financial reports cover one school at a time.

We are halfway through the year. Can we still start?

Yes, from an opening balance of four figures: cash in each account, fees owed to the school, salaries owed, and deposits held. The books run from there; earlier years are not rebuilt.

Which financial year does it use?

July to June by default, or January to December, April to March or October to September, chosen at setup and fixed once the books have entries.

Can I see the reports on my phone?

Not yet. The owner's dashboard and the financial reports are in the web admin panel. The admin app records expenses and shows fees and salaries.

Is accounting included in the price?

Yes. Accounting is included for every school, at every size, at no extra cost. There is no accounting add-on.
